Amy Berner, LMFT
You’re already stronger than you think you are.
You don’t have to figure this out on your own.
I Got You.
I’m here to help you flourish.
I first saw how women can soar after heartbreak from watching my mom transform when she divorced after two decades of marriage. At first, she was blindsided by the breakup and spent months crying, depressed and hopeless. Then, she started working with a therapist and her life changed. She went back to college, explored new hobbies, focused on friendships and family and truly flourished. Twenty plus years later, I followed in her footsteps as I navigated the tumult of my own divorce. Today, I am living a life I love and am passionate about helping you experience the powerful growth that lies within your pain and heartbreak.
My style
I believe that we are partners on your journey. We will work together to give you the life you want and deserve.
I will help you heal from your pain and set goals for your new life. Together, we will examine unhelpful thinking patterns and break free from beliefs that no longer serve you. Your values and goals will be our guide in our work together. I can hold the hope for you when you are feeling discouraged and down. I believe in you already and by the end of our work together, you will believe in yourself, too!
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based approach that teaches you new ways of responding to challenges. Research shows that CBT is especially beneficial for decreasing depression, overcoming anxiety, improving low self-esteem, and undoing unhealthy habits.
We will work on understanding how your thoughts affect your behaviors and feelings. We'll set goals and track your progress towards meeting them. We'll take a close look at your habitual thought patterns. I will teach you evidenced based techniques to help you develop new ways of thinking and responding. This approach can help you leave old habits and beliefs behind and bring about positive change.
I have a very collaborative approach. We measure how you are doing every session to make sure you are feeling better.
